What is Lectio Divina?

"Lectio Divina", a Latin term, means "divine reading" and describes a way of reading the Scriptures whereby we gradually let go of our own agenda and open ourselves to what God wants to say to us. In the 12th century, a Carthusian monk called Guigo, described the stages which he saw as essential to the practice of Lectio Divina.

Request a Prayer

Through this web page, the members of the Carmelite Family (friars, nuns, sisters and lay people) wish to draw closer to so many people who are in need of the generous love of God and of fellow human beings. By their daily life and, especially, by their prayers, Carmelites wish to make themselves available and to help those who suffer because of so many ills in the world, or those who wish to thank God for so many marvels. The need to pray and the intention of one’s prayer can surge in the individual from various motives and in many forms.
